How to make a small bag look smaller??

Ohk.. The answer to the question on the post title is at the end of this post.

Don't you hate it when your day job sucks the energy out of you..leaving you unproductive at your hobby?!? The past two weeks at my day job was HECTIC beyond reason.. Its starting to lull down a bit now and I can breathe easily again.. I have a week-long vacation coming up at the end of this month..and, I am looking forward to it.. I so wish I could take my sewing machine along.. My Hubster will probably commit me to a mental asylum if I do that! so, knitting it will be.. It has been a long time since I knitted anything. So, I think my fingers will thank me for the exercise. I am planning to finish this:

I started this ages ago and its mindless stockinette stitch.. works perfect for vacations! It has a funny story attached with it.. I asked my dear Hubster to guess what it is.. and he looks at it and says.. "..hmmm.. a skirt?!?!" I burst out laughing.. What do you think it is? Leave your guess in the comment..

So, what is new in my Etsy shop? I added 2 box bags and a small handbag to my shop. I have the fabric cut and interfaced for 3 more bags..but, if only God will give me an extra 6 hours everyday, I will make them into bags in a day! ;-) Here is what is new in my shop... I got this pink fabric in Bangalore and I really wish I was living there.. I know.. fabric and yarn shops sway my opinion on places I want to live! ;-)

and, here is the petite handbag modeled by yours truly!

ANSWER: Use a BIG person to model the bag!! The bag does look really small against me, doesn't it?!? rofl.. gotta find a petite model.. anyone up for it?? Let me know!

Featured on Friday - joyoustreasures

This was very hectic for me.. Too much work at my day job leaving me with no energy to work on anything crafty..but, I designed a zippered pouch in the itsy-bitsy time I got..and, I am totally stoked by it. I have made the prototype and, I am lovin' it! will post more on that pouch later.. Anyways, since its Friday today, lets check out this week's featured crafter.. Since I am a fiber-crafter too, I was glad I found joyoustreasures on Etsy.. She makes awesome crocheted bookmarks.. If you are an avid reader, you should check out her shop.. Here is a short interview with her..

knottygal:Tell me something about yourself and your store.
joyoustreasures:Currently I live at home with my parents and younger siblings. I have always been a crafty sort of person, and learned to crochet when I was about 14. I fell in love with it, and eventually began creating my own patterns with fine thread.
I also play the piano, and am a local photographer.

knottygal: What inspires you the most? what is your favorite color and fiber to work with?
joyoustreasures:I love nature, so that is my greatest inspiration. I love flowers especially, and many of my creations reflect that.
I tend to like earthy colors the most, thought I don't really have a favorite color, (that changes from time to time!) I like to work with a variety of colors. I do find that most flowers are in more feminine colors such as purples and pinks, but I'm trying to come up with more variety!
As far as personal taste goes though, I tend to lean toward earthy colors, such as burgundy, and my room is decorated with chocolate browns.
I have found cotton to be my favorite fiber for my fine thread creations. For larger yarn projects I like silky or suede yarns.

knottygal: Where do you create.. home? office? studio? ..a lil background about your work.
joyoustreasures:I work at home. My room is generally my all purpose studio, but since my work is also portable, I often sit on the couch to crochet.
I have little plastic drawers in my closet I put my finished projects in, so they are nicely organized and easy to find when I need to ship them.
I have a little cardboard shelf to put thread I'm not using. I also keep the threads and tools I'm working with in a backpack and carry it with me...very handy!

knottygal: What is the reason behind your Etsy store?
joyoustreasures:To be honest my craft was getting expensive. I realized that I couldn't keep buying more supplies and continue to create without making some money.
So shortly after I discovered Etsy, I opened a shop to sell. Since then, it has grown into a small business that provides me with a little extra spending money.
The most important thing to me however, is that I share my creations with the world. I love that there are people everywhere marking their books with my own handmade bookmarks.

Featured on Friday - LilPeacock

Continuing the tradition of Featured on Friday, this week's Featured crafter is LilPeacock! She does lovely leather work. Here is a short interview with her.. Isn't the leather heart fridge magnet gorgeous??! I love the details on the horse shoe.

Knottygal: Tell us something about yourself..

LilPeacock: I live in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, which is on the east coast of Vancouver Island. We have the best weather in all of Canada! Never too hot, never too cold, just perfect.

I was seriously injured in a horseback riding accident in Oct 2009, it has always been my favorite pasttime, sadly I will not be returning to the saddle again and needed to find something to fill my time.

I have always loved the smell, textures, colours and varieties of leather and decided I wanted to work with it. I purchased the book, and used some of the basic ideas in it to create my own versions. It has just blossomed from there.

Knottygal: What inspires you the most?

LilPeacock: I never know what I am going to make when I am purchasing leather. I seek out interesting pieces (usually online) and when they arrive I lay them out and put my imagination to work. Leather comes in many different varieties, weights and thicknesses and my creations are dependant upon those factors.

Knottygal: Where do you create.. home? office? studio?

LilPeacock: I create from home, a little in my kitchen, a little in my living room, and sometimes outside on my patio!

Knottygal: What is the reason behind your Etsy store?

LilPeacock: I needed a specific venue to market my creations, and Etsy seemed like the perfect match for me. I'm not attracted to your typical leather-crafting, and knew I wanted to keep my designs simple, and am not interested in incorporating other fabrics etc. into my creations. So the name was easy.....*simply leather*, nothing else would do.

Knottygal: Tell us how to contact you in the worldwide web..

LilPeacock: My etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/LilPeacock
Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/LilPeacock
And soon I will be investigating this thing called "twitter".

So, my dear blog readers.. Visit LilPeacock's shop and see what you like in it.. She has leather handbags, business card holders and much more..

As usual, the images are clickable!

love,
knottygal
